“Touch your horse with your heart in your hand.” Ray Hunt |

|
Our mission is to create a safe and supportive environment for human-horse interactions intended to touch the human psyche in positive ways. Because they communicate with body language rather than words horses strike up conversations at a level deeper than thought, one involving feelings and emotions. Horses are drawn to love, peace and quietude, and driven from anger and aggression. They also never lie. As the human learns to monitor his or her internal state in interaction with the horse, they become more self-aware, learning to do the same in their interactions with people. Heart in Hand Ranch offers its services to special needs clients: persons who are autistic, who are incest and/or abuse survivors, suffer from combat fatigue or post-traumatic stress disorder, have fear or rage issues that are interfering with their lives, or who have trouble with self confidence, communication, or leadership. Our horses, and our approach to horsemanship, can help. While no-one can predict the actions of a horse, ours are especially well-trained to be as safe and gentle as horses can get, and have worked effectively and responded correctly to cues from children as young as four years of age. After all, horses are not like cats or dogs. They are more like giant rabbits, and we treat them as such: prey animals seeking safety and comfort. Heart in Hand Ranch welcomes referrals from mental health care professionals and federal, state and local agencies. We pledge to do our best to help find funding for those who need us. We are currently under construction (like our website) and hope to open our doors June 1, 2011. For more information contact info@heartinhandranch.com. |
